Comparison of weight loss shakes followup
posted in Reviews & Comparisons, The Daily Diet byMy friend came over this morning and brough with her a Slim Fast Optima Meal Shake. I had one of the Slim Fast Easy To Digest (lactose free) Shakes in my fridge. I picked them up some time ago when they first came out (before I discovered the Shaklee Cinch Shakes), but they were still in my fridge because, to be honest, I just don’t like the taste of them. Over the last year or so I’ve tried all the Slim Fast Shakes, and my personal opinion is that of them all the Classic tastes the best, but there’s a good reason for that - 35 grams of sugar in each can. The Optima has way less sugar, but also not enough protein and fiber to slow the digestion/absorption of the sugar so for me it causes the dreaded sugar roller-coaster I talked about in my last post.
We sat them all side by side and wrote down all the pertinent info - calories, fat, sugar, protein, etc…… and I typed it into a spreadsheet to produce a pdf file that anyone can print to see the results. So as promised and without further ado, here is a link to my Comparison.
I do want to point out that this is not an expert scientific comparison - we just read the ingredients listed in order to draw our own conclusions. The most important factor to anyone is how well you like the taste of the product (if you don’t like the taste it’s hard to stick wtih it) and how well does it work for you and your digestive system. It’s simply my own opinion that I really prefer the taste of the Shaklee Cinch Shakes over the Slim Fast products, and the Shaklee Cinch Shakes have the right balance of low-to-moderate sugar levels combined with high protein and fiber levels to work well for me - they make me feel full and satisfied, and take longer to digest so that I get a constant energy level throughout my day.
It’s worth noting that other people may not have the same problems that I’ve had with Slim Fast, and Slim Fast is a little bit cheaper. But for me I think the Shaklee Cinch Shakes are worth paying a little bit more for to get the right balance of lactose-free, low sugar, and high protein and fiber all in one product.
