Rebel without a clue

posted in The Daily Diet by Trisha

I don’t really think of myself as a rebel, but I guess I must be because I really don’t like following instructions. I’m a blender. A rebellious blender. I can’t help myself - I mix everything (”if this shampoo makes my hair shiny, and this one makes it soft, then if I mix them together it will be perfect!”). I do that with everything - food, cosmetics (I mix creams that get rid of acne with ones that reduce wrinkles so I can do both with one application!), hair color - I just can’t leave something the way it is. I honestly have no clue why I do this - I’ve done it all my life. I just have to mix until I’m happy.

I really enjoy the Cinch meal replacement shakes (you can get a canister or pre-measured packets) but the instructions say to mix it with milk or soy milk. I’ve discovered that if I mix it with water, I can use the calories saved to add a few small frozen raspberries or cherries (in my blender) for an extra flavor zing. Actually it was mom’s idea, but I horked it and now am claiming it as my own. Sometimes I’ll add in a tablespoon or two of yoghurt. I’ve found that for the same number of calories I can get a bit more volume, which helps me stay full longer. Which is important because I don’t seem to have much self-discipline when it comes to hunger. Or buying shoes. But that’s another story for another blog.

So two days on the diet now and I feel good and still have energy. Tomorrow I’m going to start walking in the mornings since I don’t do much but sit on my butt all day right now, and part of any good diet is the incorporation of some type of excercise to kick-start your metabolism. I tend to be lazy so I hope I can really do this.
